Mindfully Inclined offers a personal perspective on the practices of mindfulness and meditation. It is not so much a ‘how to’ as it is a ‘why to.' Many of these short pieces describe teachable moments as they happened in the author’s experiences on retreats, in relationships and in everyday events. Over the 25+ years of her practice and teaching, this retired psychologist notes both the elevating and the deflating events of being human in the process of becoming more awake.
This series of essays offers the reader the opportunity to open the book to any page and find one’s self on the journey with the author toward a more conscious way of being in the world. The reports range from the author’s early exposure to Tibetan Buddhist art to a moment of insight with her then three-year old grandson.
Poems accompany many of these essays, each chosen to highlight the essence of a teaching. In addition, the voices of others well-known in the field of mindfulness are heard along the way.
