Helen is a big hockey fan! She became a hockey fan while attending Bowling Green State University during the 80s! Her recent book, “Skill, Size, Strength & Speed” The 1986-87 BGSU Falcon Hockey Team (Blue Jade Press, 2025) is a collection of 50 interviews with former coaching staff, players, support staff, family, friends and fans. The book primarily focuses on the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) title win on Saturday, February 21, 1987.

This book is a time capsule of that era and those who were there and witnessed another outstanding time in Bowling Green’s hockey history. It is a must read for hockey fans, sports enthusiasts and young men and women who aspire to play hockey at any level.

Former players from the 1986-87 season provide insight and advice in addition to reliving their own memories while playing at BG.
