The culture of the car has evolved over many decades. Today we’re trying to make quite a momentous shift away from fossil fuel vehicles to electric vehicles (EVs). EVs are actually quite different from our familiar gas cars, yet there’s no doubt that there will be a tendency to borrow many concepts from the fossil fuel world and apply those concepts to EVs. This approach may not always work so well, and we may all benefit from new thinking as we move toward 100% electrification. This book makes the case for a totally new way to refuel, or recharge EVs, known as modular battery swap.
The first part of this book is the story of the modular swap invention. It describes some of the interesting twists and turns that occurred while developing and disseminating this new technology. In the second part, the details of why this invention is so compelling are laid out. The issues and challenges are also addressed. Some analyses are given that should provide adequate confidence in the viability of modular swap. With this knowledge, you, the reader, can move into the future with the tools you’ll need to make decisions about purchasing EVs. Knowledge is power, indeed.
