This poetry book contains the writings of a fictionalized version of Walt Whitman, completely reimagined as if he lived in the early 21st century instead of the 19th century. Whitman was one of the greatest poets of his time, with his ambitious poetic style that challenged stylistic barriers and glorified the experiences of the average person, as much as it challenged manufactured social barriers. Whitman’s poetry always has the potential to bring people together, even in times when different groups of people are at odds with each other, not seeing their common heritage, common interests and bonds which are impossible to destroy even in times of war. In this book, Whitman is placed at the beginning of his career (age 26), in the modern world, using modern tools to send forth his poetical voice. This book is one long poem, consisting of mostly original content, with Whitman’s iconic lines spliced throughout and it is dedicated to all those who, in error, declare “poetry is dead.”
