This edition includes an outline of the sermon and a biographical sketch of Nathaniel Vincent.Nathaniel Vincent (1639–1697) was born at Hertfordshire, England. He was the brother of Rev. Thomas Vincent. He was educated at Christchurch, Oxford where he earned an A.M. in 1657. At twenty-one (1660) he was presented with the rectory at Langley Marish, Buckinghamshire. He was ejected in 1662 and became chaplain to Sir Henry Blount. He preached in London after the fire, and then at a meeting-house in Southwark. He was imprisoned for his puritan beliefs and preached as best he could amid persecutions.
