On an icy December night most of the Jirovec family was involved in a horrific automobile accident. In the confusion of the accident scene, emergency responders mistook Nathan for his brother Jonathan. Both boys suffered severe head trauma and were sent to separate hospitals. One of the boys did not survive. A memorial service was held for Nathan and a little boy was buried. But Nathan was still alive.
