What if a cactus felt really bad?
Hurt and depressed and truly quite sad?
Feeling unwelcome or feeling unliked,
Not feeling like dealing with being all spiked...

Could You Hug A Cactus? is a carefully curated collection of 24 original poems by Phillip Van Wagoner paired with amazing accompanying art by Spencer Smith.

From the title poem throughout the book, adults and children alike are challenged to ask themselves what they're capable of. Confronted with lovingly imperfect characters, surprising and hilarious twists, and an emotional complexity too often missing in the world of children's literature, Could You Hug a Cactus? reminds parents of their favorite books growing up and offers a new classic for kids to fall in love with.
