Steven M. Barrett is a leading authority on Hidden Mickeys. He lives near Walt Disney World in Seminole County, Florida, and is the author of Hidden Mickeys guides to the Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resorts, as well as the Disney Cruise Line's four ships and Castaway Cay.
A Texas native, Air Force veteran, and former University of Oklahoma professor, Barrett became intrigued by “Hidden Mickeys” over a decade ago. These partial or complete images of Mickey Mouse are designed to blend into their surroundings in Disney properties in such a way that their presence is not immediately obvious, so that visitors have the fun of finding them. Barrett has been hunting them in the Disney Cruise Line’s ships for several years, and wrote his firstHidden Mickeys Go to Sea guide in 2009. Disney has launched two new ships in the years since. This latest edition includes hunts for all four of Disney's ships as well as for its private island, Castaway Cay.
