Warren Lapine is an American writer, editor, publisher, interviewer, and former professional musician. Before beginning his publishing career, he spent nearly a decade performing as a bass player and vocalist in heavy metal bands. He later became known for publishing and editing numerous popular-culture and speculative-fiction magazines, including Weird Tales, Fantastic Stories, Realms of Fantasy, and KISS: The Official Authorized Quarterly Magazine.Lapine's background as both a musician and an experienced magazine editor gave him an unusual perspective from which to interview Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, and others connected with KISS. His knowledge of the band's history allows him to move beyond superficial questions and examine the creative discipline, commercial instincts, and carefully maintained mythology that have sustained KISS for generations.
