Inhaltsangabe

This new book of photographs by Londie Padelsky offers readers a charming and quirky selection of outhouses from across the western states of America. Each region of the country boasts a different style and no one structure is the same. Some have been lovingly restored and others have aged with time and weather. Like David Stoecklein's series on cowboy gear and ranch style, this new book preserves a time-honored icon of the American West.

Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor

A native Californian from San Louis Obispo, Londie Padelsky has photographed throughout North America and abroad, using medium-format, panoramic, and 35mm cameras. Her work has been published in numerous advertisements, books, calendars, and magazines such as National Geographic Traveler, Backpacker, Country, Outdoor Photographer, and Sunset. Londie has lived in the Eastern Sierra since 1982 and has photographed the Sierra wilderness extensively by foot and on horseback, often camping for several weeks at a time. In 1997, Londie led an eight-week photography expedition by horseback with pack mules, crossing more than 250 miles on the John Muir Trail.

Von der hinteren Coverseite

Londie Padelsky's colorful and quirky images of outhouses will delight all readers. Each outhouse tells a different story and each one reflects the personality of the ranch. Some have elaborate and whimsical decorations while others are minimal and purely functional. Some owners work hard to keep an outhouse in good shape and others allow them to fall into charming disrepair. These photographs preserve a time-honored icon of the American West.
