Davy Crockett is one of America's most colorful frontier hero's. He served under Andrew Jackson in the Creek Indian war. After the war, he was elected to the Tennessee legislature, where he served two terms. In 1827, Davy Crockett was elected to Congress, after a campaign in which he passed out free liquor during his opponent's speeches. At first a Jacksonian, Crockett later joined the Whigs, who built up his legend as a frontier hero. In 1835, he went to Texas where he died at the siege of the Alamo, along with a number of other Lone Star Legends.
