Published as a supplement to Otto Raabe's 1994 textbook on internal dosimetry, this text seeks to expand knowledge about radionuclide entry to the body and deposition within internal organs. Beginning with an overview of pertinent anatomy and physiology of affected organ systems, biokinetic models of inhalation, ingestion, and skin entry are given. The design and conduct of internal dose assessment programs are addressed, including discussion of concepts of exposure and bioassay. Bayesian statistics and the use of Markov Chain Monte Carlo are applied to internal dosimetry. Finally nuclear medicine and radionuclide therapy are covered as medical aspects of internal dosimetry.
