Tish Benson's heartlad Texas transcripts (Southern-style Neoclassicism cooked over 21st century, African American irony) find their way to us via the poetic ethnomusicology and linguistics of Black tragicomedy. She sings traditions into being with short stories, dialogues and monologues fully cooked according to the inherited recipes of Zora Neale Hurston, Adrienne Kennedy and Gayl Jones -- resulting in a literary vernacular that is all her own. Insanity never tasted so good.
