It may be the sweater you just bought, the cover of your favorite CD, or in my case a colorful display of dishes that initiates an idea. Whatever it is, finding an inspiration piece and using it to spark your creativity is exhilarating, and the more you open yourself up to the inspiration all around you, the easier it is to do it again and again.

Perhaps you've already found ideas in your favorite catalog, but who would think a closet door, a box of tissues, or a bottle of pop could be inspiring? In this special issue, we're going to help you translate everyday, seemingly ordinary items into cool scrapbook pages, and we'll even help you track the ideas you find so you can use them later.

Back to the dishes. I love to recharge the right side of my brain by wandering the aisles of Target. Every time I go there, I want to come home and scrapbook! On my last trip, I picked up the bowl and pitcher that inspired my page (see pg. 9). Curious what other scrapbookers would do with this same jumpstart, I asked three friends to create pages of their own (see pg. 47). The fascinating thing is, no two people will ever be inspired in the same way. Comparing individual results teaches us about our unique perspectives. In each chapter, you'll enjoy seeing the diversity of design that stems from just one source.
