The Black River Chronicles: Level One

You know these characters—the ranger, the fighter, the wizard, the rogue. But how did they become those heroes?

Three months into his studies at Black River Academy of Swordcraft and Spellcraft, Durren Flintrand is stunned to learn he’ll be assigned to a party. It’s his only shot at advancing beyond level one, but there’s a catch: Durren has a secret that could hold him back, and his teammates have serious problems of their own.

• Areinelimus, a wizard, fears her own magic.
• Tia, the rogue, can barely tolerate anyone.
• Hule, the warrior, well… let’s just say he’s not the sharpest sword in the armory.

When your most competent party member is a floating, disembodied eyeball, you know teamwork won’t be easy. To survive Black River Academy, they’ll have to learn to tolerate each other—and outwit angry rat people, dark sorcerers, and a homicidal unicorn or two.

But as ancient forces stir, Durren and his ragtag companions are about to face dangers no level one adventurers should ever encounter…
