Joseph Randolph Bowers PhD is a Counselling Psychotherapist and author of over two hundred works including books: The Practice of Counselling; Sacred Teachings from the Medicine Lodge; Mi'kmaq Puoinaq Two Spirit Medicine; On the Threshold: Personal Transformation and Spiritual Awakening; and Clay Art Therapy and Spirituality. He is an Honorary of the Australian Counselling Association, and co-founder of their international research journal, as well as an Associate Scholar with the Centre for World Indigenous Studies; an Invited Scholar with both the Mi'kmaq Resource Centre, Cape Breton University, and the Tepi'ketuek Mi'kmaq Archives.
