Why does the spirit have to live on after physical death?
I believe the purpose of life continuing after physical death is for us to grow spiritually. Each lifetime that we spend here on earth we learn different skills and experience different lessons in order for us to achieve a greater understanding of the universe and how it works. In order for us to gain as much knowledge and growth as we can, we must live in a physical body then pass away, go to the afterlife, review our life and choose what lessons we need to learn the next time we want to live a physical life again.
How can I be sure that there is an afterlife when we pass?
Every person has their own beliefs and each of us has our own way of experiencing things. The only way you can be sure there is an afterlife is to experience it yourself, whether through signs or confirmations from your passed loved ones, angels or spirit guides; through a near-death experience; or even through hearing firsthand accounts of other people's experiences.
What does heaven look like?
Heaven looks like whatever the person who has passed wants it to look like. If it felt like heaven for an old man to be sitting on a chair at the end of a jetty fishing, that's what heaven would be like to him.
Each person has their own idea of what feels beautiful or comfortable for them. A mother who loves to have children and family constantly around her might have a home in heaven that looks or feels the same way as her earthly home. She may have spirit children coming to visit her and her passed family members close by.
The one thing that each spirit has told me when they have come through in a reading is that the colours of heaven are so beautiful, vibrant and bright, it is like the sun is shining. It is definitely a place that cannot be adequately described until you see it with your own eyes.
Is there limbo, or purgatory?
I don't believe there is a purgatory. The old-fashioned religious stories of souls being held forever in limbo – a place that is neither heaven nor hell – do not make sense to me.
What would be the point of having a physical life experience and learning all of our life lessons if it was to be wasted, and we were to be left floating in an abyss of energy which never moves forward? These outdated beliefs were originally used to keep people in line, to cause fear among the masses so that they would bend to what the church wanted.
Does hell exist? What does it look like?
Just as I don't believe in the existence of purgatory, nor do I believe there is a place called 'hell'. There is no fiery pit with horned devils tormenting you for all eternity, as depicted throughout the ages.
