This is the first state of the book. The first issue points are as follows: (1) The copyright page states: 'First Published in Australia and New Zealand by Scribe Publications 2003' (and there are no numbers indicating a print run, i.e., 123456789); (2) the correct author photo appears on the dust jacket, featuring the author in a white shirt (another photo was substituted in reprinted editions); (3) word SCRIBE on the inside rear dust jacket flap is not contained in brackets, as is the case in the reprint editions; and (4) the word MELBOURNE appears on rear inside dust jacket flap in this first state dust jacket (it does not appear in reprint editions).
