Inhaltsangabe

250 multiple-choice questions on Julius Caesar, with a complete answer key and explanations. Fifty questions for each of the five acts, in the order the play unfolds — revise one act at a time, or test yourself on the whole play.

What's inside

  • 250 questions, divided 50 per act
  • A separate Answer Key & Explanations section — every answer explained, often with quotes, not just marked
  • Coverage of plot, characters, the great speeches, themes and turning points
  • Questions ordered scene by scene, so they work alongside any edition of the text

Studying for GCSE English Literature? Julius Caesar is a set text for GCSE Literature, and these questions are built for the kind of close recall the exam rewards — who says what, where, and why it matters. The Forum speeches repay exactly this sort of line-by-line attention.

Following the ICSE or CBSE syllabus? Julius Caesar is prescribed for ICSE Class 9 and Class 10, where Acts 3, 4 and 5 are the set portion — that's 150 questions in this book on the prescribed acts alone. The remaining hundred cover Acts 1 and 2, so you can work through the conspiracy from the beginning and understand how the assassination is built. The play is also set for CBSE Class 10 English.

For US students, Julius Caesar is commonly taught in grade 10. For everyone else — theatregoers, book groups, actors preparing a role, or anyone returning to Shakespeare after a long gap — the questions work just as well as a way back into the play.

How to use it: complete an act, then check your answers. Read every explanation, including the ones you got right — that is where most of the learning happens.

Julius Caesar: 250 Multiple Choice Questions & Answers is part of The Arts Edge Revision Series from The Arts Edge School, an ever expanding set of question and answer books for classic literature.

Ian Mac publishes The Arts Edge Pre-Theatre Series, guides to the ballet, opera, Shakespeare and musical theatre repertoires for audiences before curtain-up, and The Arts Edge Revision Series, a structured revision and study catalogue covering Shakespeare and nineteenth-century fiction, with more than fifty titles published since 2026 and the revision series extending to the full Shakespeare canon. He collects antiquarian books: his own shelves hold leaves from the 1577 Holinshed, the chronicle Shakespeare drew on for Macbeth, King Lear and Cymbeline, and a first edition of Dickens's Our Mutual Friend in the original monthly parts. He came to publishing from education, working as a full-time technology trainer from 1990 to 1995 and later as director of new technologies at a London university.
