Tommy’s a whirlwind. A kind, caring student by day, and a drug dealer by night. But not the nasty type, not that nasty. Not like Terry. Tommy got into it all to help his mum. She suffers with ME, a savage disease that nobody takes seriously. The government cut her benefits and that was that. He had no other choice, and he never meant to hurt anyone. Things weren’t supposed to get so dark.
Terry’s the kingpin. He runs Cardiff’s underworld. Drug trafficking, bare knuckle boxing, casinos, money, murder. Tommy owes him a lot of money, but Terry wants more than that. He’s unusually fond of Tommy, and he’ll do anything he can to control him.
Making it all worse, Isobel’s split up with him and his friends are mad because he lied to them. He’s determined to make everything right, and he’s got to pay Terry back at all costs, even if it means playing Terry’s games.
While he fights his way out of the mess, he reflects on how he got there in the first place. Starting university just a naive student. Falling in love with Isobel. Making new friends, partying, drugs, music. The good times. And earning more money than he could have imagined.
