Originally written by Tim Heald and first published in paperback in 1976, this 50th anniversary hardback edition has been fully updated, revised, and expanded to offer a comprehensive behind-the-scenes history of the iconic television series Space: 1999.

In early 1976, as production began on the show's second season, author, biographer, and journalist Tim Heald was granted unprecedented access to the ambitious reinvention of the series. His book, The Making of Space: 1999, was released as the first season was airing, giving fans a rare and detailed glimpse into the creative process, with insights from cast and crew at the height of production.

Now, All Sections Alpha brings that original account fully up to date. Expanded by Fred McNamara, this new edition traces the complete history of Space: 1999, from its troubled origins as a proposed second season of UFO to the bold and controversial transformation between Year One and Year Two.

Rich in detail and newly contextualized, All Sections Alpha delivers the definitive story of the classic 1970s science fiction series, exploring its production challenges, creative evolution, and enduring legacy.
