The TEHILLIM: BOOK OF PSALMS has been used by generations of Christians and Jews as a prayer book. Tehillim means 'Praises', the original title of this work, referring to songs of praise, even though many of the psalms are 'prayers' or 'Tephilot'.
The book is generally thought to be a collection of prayers and hymns to be used for specific purposes on special occasions. The Psalms are in their essence a book of instruction, i.e., a guide that highlights the correct way of living in the faith according to the Torah (Law), the Prophets, and the established texts.
This unique work takes to heart the words of the third commandment, i.e., 'Thou shalt have no elohim [gods] before me.' It omits all the words that represent other deities to provide a better understanding of the verses, removing some of the spiritual debris to help raise the frequency of the reader(s) to better connect with YHWH.
