An evidence that God’s presence is dwelling in a person is that such an individual is guided by the Holy Spirit. That is what Romans 8:14 teaches us: “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.”Being guided by God means to hear His voice in our conscience, through His word, our thoughts, even in our dreams or through prophetic words He might speak to us. The fear of God is an anchor that ensures the Holy Spirit keeps us in His commandments and pathThis leading of the Holy Spirit is the greatest asset I have come to treasure in this Christian walk with the Lord. His leading ensures guidance in the murky waters of life. Often times His voice brings rebuke especially at points of erring; a leading that continually aligns me correctly on this narrow path. This journal summarized some experiences and intimate encounters of God’s gracious dealings with me as I learnt to recognize, understand and follow His leading through His voice in my heart, in visions, revelations and dreams. In those encounters, my attention was always sharply caught!Some of the things He taught me through those indelible encounters are very relatable to all and sundry. Most came like parables that formed a bedrock for deeper search and meditation in God’s word; and by the help of the Holy Spirit, unravelled its mysteries and received interpretation as it applied to me. These indelible encounters; experiences that birthed precise direction, certainty and efficiency from various mountains of encounters with Him, I have shared in the form of stories in this journal. It was not uncommon for Jesus to speak and teach using parables to His followers and He further granted them access to the mystery therein in a bid to understand what the Spirit was saying per time. He admonished them that they had access to understanding kingdom mysteries. He answered and said to them, “Because it has been given to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given,” (Matt 13: 11). It is God’s plan for each of us to hear His voice. It is not just for a certain select group of people with “special gifts”. The level to which we receive instructions from the Holy Spirit depends on our ability to hear God’s voice. Aren’t you glad that He also promised that His Holy Spirit would be sent to teach us all things? In first John chapter 2 the Bible says: “But ye have an anointing from the Holy one, and ye know all things” (1 John 2 verse 20 NKJV). The anointing speaks to us and brings revelation from God’s word to our life. The spirit man of every regenerated heart has been designed to hear God or other voices in the spirit realm.I therefore submit that receiving and understanding God’s leading is a crucial factor for any believer to make progress and impact in this faith walk with the Lord in the days we live in. He said His own disciples would recognise and follow His voice. “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me” (John 10:27). I earnestly pray that your heart will truly be ministered to as you glean through the pages of this book. While we all may not individually undergo same encounters; and since this book will not pretend to make an exhaustive detail in all aspects, we are being reminded basically that we must consciously pay attention to what the Spirit is saying to the church for what He says to one, He says to all!
