Janet Hosier and Sheila Meaning took God's word literally Isaiah 58:7 "share your food with the hungry and...provide the poor wanderer with shelter" and, stirred into action by brokenness in their own lives, invited the homeless into their own homes for dinner each week. And so unwittingly they started a journey that would lead to the New Hope Trust being set up in Watford that now has 110 volunteers and 75 paid staff. They have bed spaces for up to 45 people each night; they feed around 70 people per day at their Day Centre for those who are homeless or on the fringes; and they have a shop, a furniture centre and a gardening project. This amazing story of how a simple act of kindness turned into a habit, and a habit turned into an adventure will inspire both individuals and churches to discover what is possible when we put our faith in Jesus, the Lord of all compassion.
