Andy Offer and his wife Frances never intended to farm for real. They had a few hobby sheep at their remote Herefordshire home and sold lamb to friends and family. Sometimes they wished it had stayed like that, but it didn't... Welcome to the story of Whyle House Lamb. This book describes their journey from the early bucolic days of realising a dream to own a farm, through the ups and downs of farming life to a busy and successful farming and food business. It's an insider's take on farming by someone from the outside, not always complimentary but always constructive, as they share our hard-won knowledge through the characters and situations they met along the way.

Andy Offer was born and raised in semi-rural Hertfordshire, studied agriculture at university, and worked for more than thirty years with ADAS, the independent agriculture and environment consultancy, where he developed a specialisation in the application of IT in rural and farm businesses. After he and his wife acquired a small farm in Herefordshire, he took early retirement from a senior management role to devote himself full-time to running it, eventually turning it into a thriving enterprise. 'It Wasn't Meant To Be Like This' is his first book.
