Alan Villiers was a sea captain, a distinguished veteran of World War II, and the author of more than 40 books, including Falmouth for Orders. He was a trustee of the National Maritime Museum and also served on the committees of the Society for Nautical Research, the Cutty Sark Preservation Society, and the Victory Technical Advisory Committee.
