Using a patch of colour that is similar to a brushmark, Riley's forms interrupt and threaten to break out from the picture plane, overhanging the frame to jostle and animate the visual field. Alongside over 20 full-colour illustrations, an in-depth essay by Paul Moorhouse examines the changes within Riley's work throughout her multi-decade career.

Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor

Paul Moorhouse is an art historian and curator. He was Senior Curator at the National Portrait Gallery in London, previously serving as Senior Curator at Tate, where he curated a major Bridget Riley retrospective in 2003. He is also the author of Bridget Riley: A Very Very Person (Ridinghouse, 2019), the first biography of the artist, and other books on Riley.
