Top botanist Dr Trevor Dines has been finding and mapping wild plants for over 30 years. Having gained a PhD in botany, Trevor became a key author of the New Atlas of the British and Irish Flora, one of the biggest natural history surveys ever undertaken. This ongoing project involves the mapping of millions of wild plants, the findings of which are of vital importance in his day-to-day work for Plantlife, the conservation charity that is protecting and speaking up for wild plants.

Lichenologist Sally Eaton has an eye for detail. Armed with her microscope and hand lens, she reveals a vibrant but tiny world right under our noses. Her interest in ecology and an MSc in plant classification and biodiversity help her find life in some of the least likely spots. Sally is currently a research assistant at the Royal Botanic Garden of Edinburgh, chair of the Education and Promotions Committee of the British Lichen Society and a trustee of the Species Recovery Trust.
