This is a novel approach and, as in real life, the information on families is slowly teased out, covering a combination of topics. The use of such case studies brings genetics to life. Andrew Read (PhD, FRCPath, FMedSci) is Professor of Human Genetics at the University of Manchester. He is co-author of Strachan and Read's Human Molecular Genetics the leading advanced textbook on the subject. He established one of the first molecular genetic diagnostic services in the UK and has a long-standing interest in what genetic testing can and should, achieve. Dian Donnai (FRCP, FRCPCH, FMedSci) is Professor of Medical Genetics at the University of Manchester and Consultant Clinical Geneticist in the NW Regional Genetics Service.
