The aim of the volume is to discuss some of the reflexive or postprocessual methods that have been introduced at Catalhoyuk in the work there since 1993. These methods involve reflexivity, interactivity, multivocality and contextuality or relationality. The methods themselves are described, as are the difficulties of introducing them. Some of the potentials and implications of these approaches are discussed. The three sections of the volume deal with the integration of interpretation at the point of discovery - in the excavation and in the laboratory; with the problem of representing the past in the contested and multivocal context; and with presenting the past to local and global audiences and participants.
