It documents four major installations in Norway, Contagion for the 2000 Brighton Festival, The History of the World for the Rice Art Gallery. USA, and the four versions of (Vot/ring Changes. The book also examines Petry's MAP units based on his own dimensions, recent studio work utilising diverse materials from pearls to porn, and glass crystal to bronze. Michael Petry was born in El Paso, Texas in 1960 and has lived in London since 1981. He has a BA in Mathematical Science, and Fine Art from Rice University, Houston, and an MA with Distinction, from London Guildhall University. Petry has shown internationally as a multi-media artist and is a Co-Director of the Museum of Installation. He lectures part-time at the Royal College of Art, London, and is a Research Fellow at the School of Art and Design, University of Wolverhampton. Petry is the current Guest Curator at the Kunstakademi, Oslo. He co-authored the seminal Installation Art (1994), and has written A Thing of Beauty is. (1997) and Abstract Eroticism (1996). He is currently writing Mad About the Boy (2003), the first comprehensive survey of male same-sex lovers in the visual arts in the 20th century, to accompany an exhibition he is curating for The New Art Gallery, Walsall. Trond Borgen (1950) is a Norwegian art critic, curator, and lecturer. He has written several books on contemporary art and has curated major exhibitions of international contemporary art in his home country, such as Utopia in Stavanger (2000) and Blind Navigator. The Heritage of Surrealism in Bergen (1991). Andrew Brewerton (1958) is Dean of Art and Design at the University of Wolverhampton, and Honorary Professor of Fine Art at Shanghai University. He is a trustee of the New Art Gallery, Walsall. His work includes Sinus {Poetical Histories, Cambridge 1995), and inclusion in FOIL: Defining Poetry 1985-2000 (Etruscan Books, 2000).
