Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor

David Wright started telling Dicky-Duck stories to his two young children at bedtime, and realised that by far the most successful were those which made them laugh. Encouraged by their enthusiasm, he began to write down the best ones and illustrate them as a hobby. When David's wife read the books to children at the schools where she was teaching, they were so popular she even had boys asking to stay in at playtime to do comprehension exercises on Dicky-Duck! Constant demand from children who wanted to buy the books convinced David to give up his job as an accountant and produce the books full time. David works from his home in rural Somerset, which he shares with his wife and children, a dog, two cats and a pondful of wild mallard ducks!

The first day of the summer holiday was fine but very windy, (just like Dicky-Duck after a baked bean sandwich!) and was just right for flying kites. Sam and Sue had made a special duck-sized kite for Dicky-Duck the night before, and he was so proud of it he had carried it around everywhere. He had even taken it to bed with him! He was now fidgeting impatiently by the door, wishing the children would hurry up so he could try it out for the first time.
