Jacqueline Ophir, author of "The Fellowship of the Rod" introduces this collection of tales of the correction of young ladies and gentlemen with cane, birch rod or strap. The 11 stories, poems and reminiscences are titled "The Governess Speaks", "Singapore Sting", "Morning Tears", etc. Originally intended for "The Governess", a journal of "romantic discipline", they were collected in a single volume to insure they got a chance to be read.
