Inhaltsangabe

This book is the first book you should read if you feel unwell and don't know why. Easy to read - written in a narrative style - you learn about the causes of ill-health and what you need to do to improve your own health as you travel on a journey with the heroine and her family. The technical and health information in this one book is astounding and is conveyed in layman's terms in an enjoyable fashion!

This book has changed many lives - thousands of individuals are healthier today than they were throughout their entire life. Most were simple changes, others had to be worked at - but the cost in dollars was minimal. It's also the best $20 you'll ever spend to help you live a life with quality health.

It has 18 chapters, including chapters on children, appropriate nutrition, schools, your home, your place of work - and while it covers most aspects of your life, the author has included a comprehensive list of references/appendices to allow you to continue your healing journey on your own! The author also espouses a complementary approach to healthcare - one that combines the best of traditional medicine and alternative heathcare along with a liberal dose of common sense. She suggests that we may have forgotten some of the wisdom of our forefathers in our headlong rush into the fast-paced life and food choices of the 21st Century.

The contents deal with many chronic conditions such as chronic fatigue, asthma, food sensitivities, Candida, headaches/migraines, irritable bowel syndrome, yeast infections, mood swings, depression, many "common" allergies and auto-immune disorders, as well as ear and throat infections, ADHD and behavioral issues in children -- and much more.

It also deals with the causes (food sensitivities, chemicals, environmental concerns such as clean air, clean food and clean water), the dangers of food additives, as well as the overuse and abuse of drugs and non-drug treatments for many of these issues. The second edition also has added material on newer treatment methods and website references and toll-free numbers to help you conduct your own personal research to improve your health.

This book is the overall best-seller in alternative/complementary health in Canada - and has been since 1997. A second edition was released in early 2003 (ISBN 1895814154).

Unfortunately this book is known to only several thousand readers in the United States, but the title is a household word in many regions of Canada.

Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor

Judit Rajhathy is a registered nutritional consultant, acupuncturist and NAET practitioner in private practice in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, specializing in food and environmental sensitivities. She regularly appears on television and radio, and lectures extensively on environmental health throughout school systems, corporate and service organizations, as well as to the public at large. Her work with schools, PTAs and teacher associations have earned her respect and praise wherever she travels. Ms. Rajhathy is also a health writer and has produced and hosted two highly successful television series on holistic health. Always willing to publicly stand up for her beliefs, Judit initiated Citizens for Choice in Health Care and Dartmouth Citizens Against Incineration, both highly successful undertakings which improved the lives of many Nova Scotians. She is currently the president of New Directions in Health, a company dedicated to bringing up-to-date information on holistic health as well as complementary health services and health testing to the public.

Although Judit has written and lectured extensively in the area of environmental and nutritional health, the release of her first full-length book, Free to Fly: a journey toward wellness, has added thousands to the list of those been helped by her work. Dr. William Crook, author of the million plus best-seller The Yeast Connection, calls it a "A superb book!" It became a Canadian Best-Seller just three months after its national release. Her publisher, New World Publishing, also released two live digital recordings of Judit’s lectures in September,1998 and in 2001. It should be noted that teachers/parents/childcare workers are among the most prolific readers of Free to Fly, not only for its insights on the children they teach, but for their own families as well. However, with the success of this book as a #1 best-seller, the readership has spread to all segments of the general public.

BOOK STATEMENT: Our changing environment has put increased stress on the human immune system. What we eat, drink and breathe has a profound influence on our level of well-being. Ms. Rajhathy includes in her presentations topics such as the quality of school air and the need for scent-free schools; the impact that highly sugared and packaged snacks and canteen food have on the attention, behaviour and learning of children; as well as her concerns related to the overuse of the ADD- ADHD label in our society. In her lectures and workshops she identifies the problems, makes the connections and offers solutions for schools - from children’s diets, to the classroom environment, to what’s in the custodian’s closet! Making these changes will help teachers regain a greater degree of control in their classrooms as well as in their lives.

Judit is a dynamic and entertaining speaker, intricately weaving factual information, appropriate research and anecdote into the fabric of her presentations. She keeps audiences riveted to their seats, often eliciting bursts of laughter as she intersperses humour with the realities of classroom teaching and the even harsher realities of life in the nineties. Combining truth with that humour, she provides her audiences with the relevant connections between symptoms and the root causes of chronic conditions wrought by our post-modern society. No one leaves her lectures without being helped in some way - without learning something that will help them in their workplace, their home and improve their own quality of life and that of their family. It is Judit’s goal to help each and every person begin his or her own journey toward wellness.
