JEFFREY SHANDLER is a Dorot Teaching Fellow at the Skirball Department of Hebrew and Judaic Studies at New York University. BETH S. WENGER is Katz Family Chair in American Jewish History, University of Pennsylvania.
The book also contains essays by BARBARA KIRSHENBLATT-GIMBLETT, Professor of Performance Studies at New York University, and ARTHUR A. GOREN, Russell and Bettina Knapp Professor of American Jewish History at Columbia University.
