Inhaltsangabe

The story-poem about a child's search for meaning in her life. She paints her way through rejection and a loved one's death, using her brush like a blind man's cane to find her way. Hard Core Dreamer explains why the artist must create and the bird must sing. It is inspiration for the young adult to find their own way at a time of major life choices.

Von der hinteren Coverseite

I once had an art professor who would lecture and leave me feeling proud of who I was and what I was trying to become. He made me believe that life was worth living and being an artist was the most important thing I could be. Hard Core Dreamer is a story-poem about what makes an artist and artist and a dreamer a dreamer. It challenges the pursuit of money over dreams and the kid (or adult) who thinks he can't.

Love poured on my canvas, painting words not said, frantically crying, stroking strokes of red. I prayed without believing; not believing I'd hear, when a butterfly perched on a branch of my fear. I glanced at it's color. The wings were so thin. But it danced with a boldness on the wings of the wind. I stared as it fluttered. It was speaking to me. There something so tranquil about butterfly's wings. I climbed the highest mountain, where daisies grow from ferns, and there I heard Amazing Grace sung by leaves and birds. I fingered by paint brushes. I squeezed out more paint. Emma was gone but alive in each stroke that I made.
