Inhaltsangabe

Autumn is a season of transition. It fluctuates wildly between the lush full, verdancy of summer, and the bleak barrenness of winter. In New England it is a time filled with contradictions and inconsistencies. It can be bright and sunny one day, heralding back to the glory days of a bygone season, and grey and desolate for the next two weeks. You just never know what to expect from Autumn! For three dynamic years, I came to know these oscillations on a weekly basis. Autumn was my part-time partner, and we shared an intense and intimate journey. In spite of our ineluctable attraction, there were plenty of good reasons for trepidation. It was, indeed, a perfect set-up. We each got just what we had asked for, but neither she, nor I, could provide each other with what we really longed for. These poems range from the gritty to the transcendent. They are extremely personal, yet universal.Spend some time with them. Let the words flow over you like a summer shower, bathing you in images, washing away your need for form, for definition. Let them seep into your bones. This collection encapsulates the richness of our time together and apart, echoing the abundant promise of springtime, and the exquisite pain of…those last waning days of Autumn. The idea for this book arose suddenly, over the final days of February, 2010, as winter transitioned early, and quickly, into spring. The majority of these poems were written in a two-week period. It was a time of great emotional intensity and profound insight, culminating at the equinox. I would awaken in the dark at 4:30, with lines running through my head, get them down on paper as fast as I could, and often, have a poem completed before I got out of bed! I d come back to it late that evening to craft it, whittling it down to its essence, sometimes working until 1:30 the next morning, only to be awakened a few hours later to start the whole process over again. To paraphrase Neruda, poetry had arrived, in search of a voice! These poems convey much of the turmoil of our turbulent time together during the two and one-half years chronicled here. I decided to publish this extremely intimate body of work because it demonstrates that in spite of all the emotional gyrations that Autumn and I endured, we have managed to transform our relationship, and ourselves, so that we now love each other more deeply and openly than ever. It is my wish, that what I ve shared here of our journey of conscious relationship, may serve as inspiration for all who are willing to engage in this deliberate discipline of introspection and emotional honesty, and to re-affirm that it s well worth the effort!

Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor

Jeff Volk; Poet, Producer and Publisher For the past 25 years, Jeff Volk has been popularizing the science of Cymatics, which demonstrates, through simple physics experiments, how inert matter can be animated into life-like flowing forms, by the unseen forces of vibration. The implications of these experiments are vast, and have inspired profound insights into the hidden realms of nature, in many who have seen them. These insights pertain not only to our world at large, but also in deeply personal ways to the subtle realms of human nature, which are often just as mysterious. As a producer, his 1993 documentary, Of Sound Mind and Body: Music and Vibrational Healing, won the Hartley Film Award through the Institute of Noetic Sciences, and its phenomenal success inspired him to produce The International Sound Colloquium, the premier conference exploring the power of sacred sound and healing music, throughout the 1990s. He has distilled this wealth of experience into multimedia presentations and a variety of feature articles, which have been published worldwide. His company, MACROmedia Publishing, focuses on books and electronic media, which inspire and enlighten the discerning spiritual seeker.Jeff s penetrating poetry springs from pondering how these universal principles of cause and effect that are demonstrated objectively in the realms of physics by Cymatics, play out subjectively, in our personal lives. His work spans a wide range of topics, but always seeks to offer a wider perspective and an inclusiveness that integrates the disparate…in ways that only poetry can. The Ambiguity of Autumn: Poems of Love, Longing and Transcendence, is his first book of poetry.Further information may be found at www.cymaticsource.com

Aus dem Klappentext

I love this book! I read it several times, cover to cover, savoring its richness and the poet s electrifying use of language. As the title suggests, The Ambiguity of Autumn, abounds with contrasting images, casting a pall of suspense around a love story sketched out with wit and erudition. This collection plays off the subtlety of the title. At first, we are unsure whether the poet is addressing a person, or offering a Keatsian ode to the season of uncertainty and the vivid illustrations further draw us into the mystery. In time, the message becomes unmistakable and irresistible. Hugh Harter, Ph.D., author, The Countess, Flying With Nightingales and Tangier and All That.Autumn offers two love stories, the love of a man for a woman and the love of a poet for language. Jeff Volk is infatuated with words. Read one of these poems aloud, relishing the resonance, rolling the syllables around on your tongue like candy beach pebbles, you a present-day Demosthenes, declaiming against the roar of the surf. Pat Parnell, author of Snake Woman and Other Explorations, Finding the Female in Divinity and Talking with Birches, Poems of Family and Everyday Life. The Ambiguity of Autumn poignantly reveals many of the challenges of romantic love. In between, through and around the words, pulsates this raw commitment to exploring love beyond boundaries. Victoria Friedman, Co-Founder of Vistar Foundation, dedicated to the power of Collective Consciousness in communication and relationships.
