WAITING AT THE STATION is an original work by painter Steve Hawley and songwriter Michael Kelly Blanchard, inspired by the Stations of the Cross. See separate listing.*** ] As noted in the book's preface: "For centuries, the traditional Stations have been a regularly visited 'depot' on the spiritual journey of the faithful. In fourteen graphic stages, the Stations tell of the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ for humanity, a kind of iconic storyboard presentation of Redemption's cost." Waiting at the Station features fourteen canvases and fourteen song-poems with accompanying reflections, one for each of the Stations. "We envision them," explain the songwriter and painter, "as meditative springboards for the imagination of believers -- a spiritual catalyst, we hope, expanding the rich benefits of remembering anew our Lord's Passion and Death."

Each Station consists of four elements to aid meditation and contemplation:
1. Scripture: The biblical text taken from one of the four Gospels;
2. Painting: An original work for each Station, melding both representational and abstract images.
3. Reflection: A brief contextual set-up for the narrative direction of the song-poem.
4. Song-Poem: The text of the original song-poem.
