This thick volume contains 16 essays on both historic and present day aspects of Confucianism by scholars in the US (predominantly), Japan, Canada and the UK. The topics include footbinding and female identity, gynecology in Tokugawa Japan, language and gender in Choson Korea, historic agendas of Vietnamese Confucianism, and seven essays on current emanations of Confucianism in Korea, Vietnam, China, and Japan.
