Joseph. The many years of suffering and enduring silently the adversities created by the despicable intrigue of Satan were now ended. Overcome by his own love, Joseph could not restrain himself before all them that stood by him; and he cried "... cause every man to go out from me. And there stood no man with him while Joseph made himself known unto his brethren. And he wept aloud: and the Egyptians and the house of Pharaoh heard; And Joseph said unto his brethren, I am Joseph... (Gen. 45:1-3). Amen! He said, "I am Joseph!" I recall many years ago, how, at this point, my father would pause, turn his head and weep, then proceed to read the entire story aloud to family and neighbors gathered around him! But the consummate excellence of this true story is to be found not in Joseph alone but in that One whom Joseph so clearly portrays and typifies, the one who "endured such contradictions of sinners against himself" (Heb. 12:3); and who "took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: and being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross."
