All done with mirrors

Paperback. Zustand: Very Good. 225 pages. Step right up. Step right up. Here's a story I haven't told anyone before. It 's called 'Find the Lady.' The story is Tilly Katterfelto's. In her early 50s, n ow living in Dunedin, but formerly of the Far North, she is also a traveler to m any other destinations, the descendant of a stage magician, a tiny piece of whos e skin she carries with her always. Courageous, funny, sometimes irritating but also disarmingly aware of her own faults, Tilly is at once eccentrically unique and a kind of Everywoman. Talking to her friend Leslie in Canada, Tilly graduall y reveals her present life, her past, the ways she sees her world, her friends. She details her odd obsession with the young Stella and her more equal friendshi ps with other, older women, especially the exotic Julia. She recalls too, with h umor and honesty, love affairs with men. Tilly peels back the layers of disguise and subterfuge that we all rely on, eventually reaching a quieter understanding and acceptance. Russell Haley, a distinguished and prize-winning author of fict ion, poetry and non-fiction, has produced a luminously written novel of real dis tinction. All Done With Mirrors is a magical book, lit with charm, insight and i rresistible detail, full of intelligence and emotional truth. Artikel-Nr. 873d
