Although Milner invites readers to emulate any of the crafts projects shown in her two companion volumes (this one and Masterworks: Decorative and Functional Art: Decoupage, Painted Finishes, Ceramics, Glass, Wood, Jewlery, Basketry) only a very few readers will be able to achieve the mastery of techniques called for--whether in a "soft" art like needle lace or in a more sturdy craft, such as cast jewelry. Together, the 80 Australian artisans showcased in the two books bring a sense of design and quality workmanship rarely featured in regular how-to books--and those crafters seeking the best and most advanced ideas should instantly recognize the artists' talents. High aesthetic standards are set as 15 categories are focused on; each artist's section includes a few sentences about his or her passion, and then instructions are focused on (which are definitely geared to the experienced practitioner).
