The authors of the 16 papers in this collection offer reviews and new data from the geological record of Earth during the Palaeoproterozoic era to illustrate the status of current research. The era was a critical time in Earth's development with significant evolution from the planetary interior to its surface. Geologic evidence points to the creation of at least one pre-Rodinia supercontinent near the end of the Palaeoproterozoic era.
