A second workshop and field trip on laccoliths, sills, and dykes was held on the Isle of Skye, Scotland, in April 2006 to provide updates on the study of high-level magmatic systems during the four years since the first. Geologists in a number of specialties looked a the entire gambit of geological processes associated with the shallow emplacement of magma. Of the 43 presentations, 13 are published here on such topics as lithological and structural controls on the emplacement and morphology of sills in sedimentary basics, constraining melt concentration and strain distribution around basalt dykes in partially molten olivines, and the evolution and morphology of saucer-shaped sills in analogue experiments.
