Biografía del autor
Thomas Babington Macaulay was born in 1800. He began writing poems of a historical character at the age of eight, and in 1818 entered Trinity College, Cambridge, where he became interested in utilitarianism. He entered Parliament in 1832 as a Whig and was re-elected in 1839 as MP for Edinburgh, serving under Lord Melbourne until 1841. He began work on his monumental HISTORY OF ENGLAND after losing office in 1841 and laboured over the project for the next fourteen years. The first two volumes were published in 1848, the next two in 1855. In 1857 Palmerston granted Macaulay the title of Baron Macaulay of Rothley. Thomas Babington Macaulay died in 1859.
