MACKINTOSH STYLE PB - Softcover

Inhaltsangabe

This work provides a biography of one of Scotland's greatest architects, Charles Rennie Mackintosh. Architectural masterpieces on a public and domestic scale, innovative interior decoration and furniture of notable elegance and refinement reveal his talent and originality. The text reviews in context, Mackintosh's work and argues that his work was radical yet personal, still retaining their essential vigour nearly a century after his architecture, interiors and furnishings were first conceived. Wilhide considers Mackintosh's sensitive handling of colour, his robust use of materials and graphic approach to form. It includes photographs of original schemes still in existence, from knives and forks to fireplaces, tiles, wrought ironwork, tables to the arranging of flowers. His vision, once considered revolutionary, is relevant and inspiring to those wishing to create the Mackintosh style.
