Grandmaster Edmar Mednis is an extremely experienced chess writer, whose work has been praised by no less an authority than leading trainer Mark Dvoretsky. His column, The Practical Endgame is syndicated in chess magazines around the world, and renowned for its accessibility and originality. His previous books for Cadogan include From the Opening into the Endgame and Practical Opening Tips. Dr Colin Crouch is an International Master and an experienced an erudite writer on chess. His previous book for Everyman 'Queens Gambit Declined: 5 Bf4!' has been highly acclaimed for its thoroughness and originality, with one reviewer describing it as 'the opening book of the year' He also wrote Rate Your Endgame in 1992
