Bridging the Gap: Connecting with Questioning Catholics - Softcover

Inhaltsangabe

Many Catholics today have serious questions for their church on a range of topics, from the recent scandals, to the apparent gap between some teachings and the lived experience of the people, to authority and power in the church, to Catholic social values, etc. This is a pastoral reflection that attempts to answer many of these questions in a way that will encourage dialogue and further reflection. A valuable resource for questioning adults, for discussion groups or classroom sessions, for those returning to the church, and for all engaged in pastoral work within the church today. Joseph Pollard spent most of his priestly life in California where he served as Director of Adult Education for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles and later as its Communications Officer. "Fr Pollard is a trained communicator, and he reads easily. After a lifetime's reflection and study, he has fresh insights on old problems."--The Irish Catholic. "Dr Pollard doesn't flinch in the face of even the most uncomfortable questions put to the Church in recent decades. [He] doesn't opt for comfortable or, for that matter, comforting answers"--The Furrow.
