Tolstaia: Three Stories (Tussian Texts Series) - Softcover

Inhaltsangabe

In contrast to a great deal of post-Gorbachev literature, often stark and black, Ta'tiana Tolstaia's work stands out for the whimsical elegance and luxurious sensuality of her writing. She tells stories of little people, whose ostensibly insignificant lives are rendered poignantly interesting though her richness of language and imagery.

Three of her best known stories, - Sweet Shura (Milaia Shura), Peters (Peters), and The Okkerril River (Reka Okkerril) - are included here, providing a valuable introduction to one of the most magical writers working in Russia today. This edition with introduction, vocabulary and copious notes, particularly on stylistic characteristics, will ensure full appreciation of this important contemporary writer.
