The chapters presented in this book examine a number of issues surrounding the distribution of languages used in bilingual teaching. They cover bilingual classrooms, classroom interaction and technological advances in teaching. Two major case studies are also included. Bilingual classrooms are examined as a means to teaching the two languages, and as an arena for teaching models and teacher effectiveness. The topic of interaction within the classroom considers the organization of talking within a group. There are two research sections on the use of technological innovations such as computers and interactive video systems. Also included are two special case studies, one on the Quechua-Spanish educational setting in Peru and one on a codeswitching methodology for teaching beginner's French to University students.

Christian Faltis, a California native schooled in Mexico, is a bilingual education professor, an AERA Fellow, and an AERA Distinguished Scholar. Christian is also an artist, whose oil paintings seek to address social inequities and visceral realities located in the bodies of marginalized people, with a focus on Mexican immigrants.
